Text message program

Kickstand LLC operates this program to deliver event logistics to recreational sports teams by SMS. This page sets out the message content, the opt-in procedure, and the opt-out procedure.

What we send

Attendance requests, reminders, start time and location announcements, and cancellations. Recurring, typically 1 to 4 messages per week during a season and no more than one per day. Message and data rates may apply. The program is used solely for team coordination and carries no marketing or promotional content.

Opt-in procedure

Only the owner of a mobile number may enable messaging for that number. No captain, teammate or administrator is able to opt in another person.

Method 1: the member’s own page

  1. The member opens their own team page, or the personal link provided by their captain.
  2. The member opens the profile section, which presents an empty, optional phone field.
  3. The member enters their own mobile number.
  4. The member selects an unchecked checkbox labeled “Text me about games”. The following disclosure is displayed directly beneath it, at the point of collection:

  5. The member saves the change. The checkbox is never pre-selected, the phone field is optional, and consent is not a condition of participation.

Method 2: text the keyword START

  1. The member sends START, or JOIN, to the program number from their own handset.
  2. Sending from the handset constitutes consent by the owner of that number. Messaging is enabled for it and a single confirmation is returned:Kickstand team notifications: you are opted in to game texts for your team. Msg frequency varies, msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.

A captain may record a teammate’s number as a roster contact detail. That number receives no messages of any kind until its owner completes Method 1 or Method 2 above.

Opt-out procedure

Reply STOP to any message to end messaging immediately. This is enforced both by the carrier and within the application. Reply HELP for assistance, or use the contact address below. A member may also clear the “Text me about games” checkbox, or remove their number, from their own page at any time.
